Cursive u is a double upstroke: two short arches that look like a rounded “u” with a clear exit. It is the counterpart to n’s down-emphasised humps and pairs with q in “qu.” Uppercase U is a simple open cup, sometimes with an entrance stroke. Even u’s prevent words from tilting downhill.
